This important event serves as a significant platform for presenting our achievements in the energy sector and discussing future priorities. Today, we are participating in the 30th edition — a jubilee event — which once again affirms its successful history and importance. 

Baku Energy Week has evolved as a logical continuation of the Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition, which was founded with the initiative and support of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Over the years, it has grown into a prestigious international event in the energy sector. Contributing to the development of energy diplomacy, the establishment of strategic partnerships, and the strengthening of our country’s position on the global energy map, this event holds the distinction of being Azerbaijan’s first national exhibition brand. 

Throughout the years, this initiative has expanded in line with global trends in the energy sector and has adopted the Baku Energy Week format. Addressing a wide range of topics, from traditional energy sources to renewable energy, Baku Energy Week has gained recognition as an authoritative forum where new approaches and international energy dialogue are shaped. 

At the same time, this event is a vivid demonstration of the successful path Azerbaijan has pursued in the energy sector, its growing international reputation, and its farsighted strategic vision. Strengthening energy security, diversifying energy supply, and ensuring sustainable development in the field of green energy remain among our country's top priorities today. The measures taken in this direction further consolidate Azerbaijan’s position as a reliable and responsible partner in the global energy market. The event’s broad scope and extensive international coverage reaffirm this. With the participation of companies from eighty countries, Baku Energy Week reflects Azerbaijan’s prominent role in fostering international energy cooperation. 

The development of the liberated territories as a “green energy” zone constitutes one of the main directions of our sustainable energy strategy. Successful approaches create new opportunities for Azerbaijan’s continuous growth in the energy sector. The initiatives being implemented also reflect our responsible attitude toward environmental protection and our ambition to lead in the energy industry. 

I am confident that Baku Energy Week, remaining true to its rich traditions and commitment to innovation, will continue to make a valuable contribution to the deepening of international dialogue, the establishment of new partnerships, and the promotion of effective cooperation.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Azerbaijan and to extend my congratulations on the occasion of the opening of the 30th Anniversary International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the 13th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition, and the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Forum, held within the framework of Baku Energy Week. 

This platform, the result of the oil strategy initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, which earned Azerbaijan the status of a reliable partner in the international energy arena, continues to make significant contributions to the implementation of new energy initiatives and the expansion of cooperation across the Caspian region. 

Amid ongoing changes in the global energy system, challenges concerning sustainable energy supply, and the growing role of new energy sources, energy security remains a priority issue on the global agenda, further strengthening interest in energy partnerships with Azerbaijan. Today, cooperation is expanding not only in the oil and gas sector but also in the field of green energy supply, with the Caspian Sea gaining prominence as a strategic hub for the production, export, and transit of renewable energy. 

Guided by a rational energy policy based on a balanced approach to energy resources and the diversification of supply routes, Azerbaijan - in line with the strategic vision of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev - is currently putting forward initiatives for the development of a “Green Energy Corridor” between the Caspian and Central Asian regions and Europe. The Caspian-Black Sea-Europe, Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan)-Turkey-Europe, Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Europe, and Azerbaijan-Georgia-Bulgaria-Turkey interconnectors are strategic projects which, in the future, will transform Azerbaijan into one of the leading exporters of renewable energy and a strategic hub for green energy transmission, further strengthening the country’s role in global energy security. 

The extensive opportunities for cooperation in the Caspian basin within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor and the emerging Green Energy Corridors once again demonstrate that Baku Energy Week will remain a platform where we will actively participate and advance important initiatives for many years to come. 

I am confident that our mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to contribute to the development of our countries and the enhancement of energy security across a broader geography, while Baku Energy Week will serve as a trusted venue for dialogue and a reliable guide toward a sustainable energy future.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Baku Energy Week, traditionally held annually in Azerbaijan, which encompasses the 30th Anniversary International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, the 13th Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition, and the 30th Anniversary Baku Energy Forum. 

The International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, first held in 1994 at the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect of Azerbaijan`s new energy strategy, has over the years transformed into a multifaceted platform. It has made vital contributions to energy security, sustainable development, and effective cooperation in the region.  

Our national energy strategy, successfully continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in accordance with the contemporary global challenges, today manifests itself as an exemplary model for the transition to an innovative and green economy in Azerbaijan, while remaining rooted in the country`s traditional energy sectors. 

Strategic energy projects implemented through Azerbaijan`s initiative and direct involvement have become an integral component of both regional and European energy security. By further expanding its export geography, Azerbaijan currently supplies natural gas to 12 countries, including 10 European states.  

Having defined its transformation into a `Clean Environment and Green Growth Country` by 2030 as one of its five national socio-economic development priorities, Azerbaijan is also taking essential steps in the renewable energy sector. Last year, our country successfully hosted COP29, marking significant achievements in ensuring global solidarity in environmental protection, energy transition, decarbonization, and combating climate change.  

As a national brand and global energy company, SOCAR successfully continues its purposeful transformation from an oil and gas enterprise into an international energy company, in line with its strategic objectives. Last year, within the framework of Baku Energy Week, SOCAR and UAE`s Masdar signed Shareholder Agreements for three renewable energy projects, and during COP29, SOCAR, Masdar and ACWA Power signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on the production of 3.5 gigawatts of wind power in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. These joint projects make a valuable contribution to the development of Azerbaijan`s renewable energy potential, regional cooperation, and the enhancement of energy security. 

Demonstrating its strong commitment to reducing global methane emissions and its adherence to announced decarbonization targets, SOCAR joined the OGMP2.0 partnership in 2024. Furthermore, SOCAR obtained a preliminary BBB rating for 2024 from MSCI, a leading international rating agency in the field of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). This achievement reflects SOCAR`s successes in reducing carbon emissions and waste, improving public relations, supporting biodiversity, ensuring health and safety, and strengthening governance and transparency.

Baku Energy Week continues to serve as a distinguished platform for wide-ranging discussion of critical energy issues and for the exchange of expertise on the latest technologies and digital solutions, offering participants valuable opportunities for cooperation. I am confident that this year`s events, by bringing together the world`s leading energy companies, will further reinforce the role of Baku Energy Week in ensuring global energy security, addressing current challenges, and supporting the sustainable development of the energy sector.

Azerbaijan – a vital participant in the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) between OPEC and non-OPEC producers – has become a global hub for constructive dialogue on key energy issues.  

This was clear at COP 29 and will doubtless be underlined once again at the 30th Baku Energy Forum, a premier event in the region’s energy calendar.  

With global energy demand forecast to increase by 24% out to 2050, ensuring energy accessibility and enhancing energy security while maintaining energy affordability and reducing emissions requires unprecedented collaboration and pragmatism.  

No single form of energy or approach can meet expected future energy demand alone. Instead, our energy future requires massive investment in all energies, with the oil industry alone requiring $17.4 trillion out to 2050.  

This is why OPEC Member Countries are looking to invest in all energies and leverage all technologies, showing it is possible to be leaders in renewables and hubs for technological development while producing the oil the world needs now and long into the future, as well as reducing emissions.  

This balanced, prudent approach stems from the reality that renewables alone cannot replace the 80% of the global energy mix that hydrocarbons provide today.  

At COP 29, His Excellency President Aliyev reaffirmed that hydrocarbons are a “gift from God.” If the world is serious about maintaining energy security, it must afford these gifts the investment and respect they deserve while reducing emissions.

Launched in 1994, on the eve of the signing of the landmark “Contract of the Century” and with the support of the great statesman and National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, this forum marked an important milestone that paved the way for Azerbaijan’s emergence as a significant investment destination. 

Today, Baku Energy Week and its central event — the Baku Energy Forum — continue to thrive under the constant support of His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

The Baku Energy Forum is not only a vital platform for constructive dialogue and the implementation of new projects but also a unique setting for interaction at the highest level — where strategic decisions are made and business relations are strengthened. 

In the context of the global energy transition and emerging international challenges, joint efforts and the exchange of expertise are more important than ever. This year, over 600 representatives from 30 countries — including new partners — will join the discussions on the most pressing issues shaping the energy agenda.

• The impact of the climate agenda on the global energy landscape and the structure of international cooperation, along with other vital subjects. 

The theme of the 2025 Plenary Session will be “Global Collaboration for a Sustainable and Secure Energy Future.”
