OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo will pay an official visit to Baku on March 17-19, the Energy Ministry said. During the visit Barkindo will be received by the Minister of Agriculture, Parviz Shahbazov, Turan was told in the Ministry of Energy. The topic of the talks is the current state of cooperation, as well as strengthening ties in the light of the agreement on reducing oil production between OPEC and partner countries.
This is the first visit of the OPEC head to Azerbaijan. After the call of this oil cartel to its members two years ago to cut production in the world to keep prices from falling, Azerbaijan joined this initiative.
