Need to make sure we have a full package of options in the energy sector

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan for their leadership in organizing the 30th Baku Energy Forum. It is really a fantastic opportunity to bring together the decision-makers, policy-makers on one hand, and companies, analysts, and experts on the other hand, stretching out from both Asia and Europe, all across, to discuss the main challenges ahead, what our priorities are, how we can better collaborate together, how we can secure gas supplies, because in Moldova, we have mentioned, we do not have gas resources, and it is important to secure its supply, to have good collaboration and to strengthen it. With Azerbaijan, we have long standing fantastic partnership, decades-long collaboration, even back since the Soviet Union times. So, I am really happy to be here. We are not talking only about renewables, gas clearly still plays a strong role in terms of flexibility needs, and I think the key word for this event, for this forum is ‘diversification’, because, clearly, we cannot just undergo fully ‘green-only’ agenda, but need to make sure we have a full package of options in the energy sector not to lay all the eggs in one basket only, as the saying goes. So, it is really great to be here.
