Baku Energy Forum: Energy Transition and Strategies for the Future

On June 1, the Baku Energy Forum commenced at the Baku Congress Center as part of Baku Energy Week, serving as a leading international platform for strategic dialogue on energy-related issues.
Each year, the Forum brings together prominent industry leaders, renowned international experts, representatives of global organizations, government officials from various countries, investors, and business communities, providing an important venue for discussing the future development of the global energy market.
In 2026, the Forum’s agenda covers a broad range of topics, including the future of sustainable and diversified energy systems, energy transition and long-term development strategies, scalable green energy projects and their export potential, as well as other pressing issues facing the sector.
The Forum’s international standing and strategic significance are reflected in the messages of support received from senior government officials and leaders of major international energy organizations. In his address to the participants of Baku Energy Week 2026, OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais highlighted the important role played by the Baku Energy Forum in shaping discussions on the future of the industry.
More than 600 delegates from Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, China, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Türkiye, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, Japan, and many other countries are participating in the Baku Energy Forum.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by Thomas Herd, Advisor to the Board of Directors of ICA Events Group.
The Forum’s program includes nearly 60 speakers. On the first day, a Ministerial Plenary Session entitled “International Cooperation for a Sustainable and Diversified Energy Future” is being held under the chairmanship of Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event also hosts a “Leaders’ Dialogue” session, with Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), delivering the keynote address.
Among the distinguished speakers are Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine; Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye; Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan; Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan; Taalaibek Ibraev, Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic; Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt; and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud, Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, among other senior officials.
The Forum features an extensive and dynamic agenda. High-level meetings, project presentations, special sessions, and parallel forums are taking place throughout the event. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is hosting an Investment Forum, one of the key platforms dedicated to discussing financing opportunities for energy projects across the region.

Baku Energy Week is organized by Iteca Caspian together with its international partners ICA Events and CEM FZ LLC Caspian Event Management FZ-LLC.
